In this guide, we will show you how to encourage interaction among your learners using Brightspace's discussion feature!
Forums are spaces for exchanges and discussions that can take on a very interesting form as long as they are kept active!
Let's go!

Course homepage
Go to the relevant course.
In the navigation bar, click on Collaboration, then Discussions

The discussions function
You are now on the discussions page.
Click on New , then New Forum.

Customize your Forum
In the Properties tab, customize the following elements:
Give your new discussion forum a title (required)
Use the Brightspace editor to add a description (optional)
Click to select additional forum options, including allowing anonymous messages, participation requirements, and displaying the forum description in topics.

Restrictions
Now that you have customized your forum, you can set up restrictions.
These restrictions allow you to fine-tune your forum settings:
1: Opening/Closing Dates: to open and close access to the discussion for students
2: Release condition: conditions for accessing the discussion
3: Groups and sections: add groups and sections
