In this guide, we show you how to create a learner group on Brightspace.

Once in the relevant course, on the navigation bar:

If no group exists in your course, you will need to start by creating a group category.

Enter the name of your group's category.
- Example : Case study #1
Choose the type of enrollment* in the groups.
Indicate the number of groups or the number of students per group
One last important step: At the bottom of the page (in the additional options) , you will find a field to configure the Dropbox (the locker icon). Each group will then be able to upload their work. See the next step in this guide.

*Types of registration:

Number of groups - No auto-enrollments: This option allows you to determine the number of groups you want. You will need to enroll students in each group yourself . This option is useful if you want to create very specific groups: balance between nationality, gender, academic background, etc. Example: I want 5 groups.
Groups of #: This option allows you to choose how many students you want per group. The students are then automatically divided into groups. Example: I want groups of 5 students
Number of Groups : This option allows you to automatically create the number of groups you want. Students are automatically assigned to groups. Example: I want 7 groups.
Groups of # - Self-enrollment : This option allows you to choose how many students you want per group. "Self-enrollment" means that the students themselves enroll in the group. Example: I want groups of 5 students
Number of Groups - Self-enrollment : This option allows you to automatically create the number of groups you want. "Self-enrollment" means that students enroll themselves in the group. Example: I want 8 groups
# groups of # - Self-enrollment : This option allows you to create as many groups as you want, with the number of students. Students enroll in the groups themselves. Example: I want 5 groups of 4 students

You are now in the group settings.

The Set up assignments option allows you to create a dropbox associated with the group, but it is not mandatory!

Once you have selected the settings, click Save .
